Hold the press!
I am a contractor to a large entity that has over 900 Nikon D90 cameras and at least 100 D3s’. Needless to say, when Nikon is looking for a test bed they often use this firm to try out their latest creations. Although I do not work directly with the division that utilizes these cameras, I do affiliate with them regularly. Recently I had the opportunity to chat with one of the photographers, who was sporting a rather unique camera. It had no markings on it whatsoever, other than for the Nikor lens.
He seemed very guarded and reluctant to discuss the camera. I was however able to extract a little bit of juicy information.. He said the only printed instructions he had referred to it as a “B” 500 (I assume for Beta). He did say that it would take 1080P video utilizing four (4) 32gb cards on-board cards. It would also take single images at a speed he had never experienced of before.
It appeared to be about the same size as a D300s, but perhaps a bit thicker. The tilting LCD screen looked as if it was in 16:9 format. I would guess it was about 5" wide. It was smaller than a D3. Could it be there will not be a D400, but maybe a D500?
